Cloud Direct, a UK provider of packaged cloud services, has acquired London-based managed services business iHotdesk. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal follows Cloud Direct\’s another major acquisition this year- IT hosting and infrastructure solutions provider Datel Business Systems. The deal support Cloud Direct\’s growth plan, and also strengthen and consolidate the company’s market offering.

Brett Raynes, CEO of Cloud Direct, said in a statement: \”We\’ve been operating a pure cloud business since we set up in 2003. Over the years, we\’ve developed our offering from solely cloud backup, to full cloud services right across the board. With iHotdesk, we\’re now adding traditional on-premises support to our portfolio.

\”In a way, though, we\’re bucking the trend. The usual scenario is for traditional IT companies to start offering cloud services – not the other way round. But this can be very slow and painful for traditional IT companies as they\’re used to operating on a project basis, rather than with a subscription-based revenue. For us, however – as a born cloud solutions provider – we can pretty much run with this new acquisition, as we\’ve seen with our acquisition of Datel earlier in the year.\”

Before the deal, Cloud Direct has  secured a total of £2.74 million investment from notable technology investors which include Nigel Wray, Rob Giles, Jamie Brooke, Santander Bank and West of England LEP “Going for Growth” fund.

Founded in 2002 and based in Bath, England, Cloud Direct is a cloud services provider specialising in Backup, Security, IT Services, Helpdesk, Managed Communications, Business Telephone Systems, VOIP Telephony, Cloud Computing, Data Communications, Secure Networking, Disaster Recovery, Virtual Computing, Cloud-Based Business Applications and Business Continuity Services. It also offers service integration and business continuity services to customers. Cloud Direct claims over 4000 customers.
