According to the company’s press release, Flexware Innovation was a strategic acquisition for Hitachi due to its focus on the TOTAL SEAMLESS SOLUTION, which links the shop floor and top floor with data and digital technology. This latest deal is expected to strengthen and enhance Hitachi’s business in the domain of SCADA ( Supervisory Control), MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Business Intelligence (BI), Data Acquisitions, and Software Development.

Tokyo-based Hitachi Ltd is a multinational company that operates in areas such as industrial systems, engineering, electronics, nuclear, and transportation. Hitachi has been steadily beefing up its presence in the shop floor operations and enterprise systems, particularly in the North American region. Before the Flexware deal, the Japanese firm made two strategic acquisitions. In 2017, the company bought Sullair, which actively engages in the air compressor business. Then, in 2019, it acquired Michigan-based JR Automation, one of the leading global systems integrators and solutions providers for the industrial automation industry.

In 2020, Hitachi created Hitachi Industrial Holdings Americas to strengthen integrated business operations of the industry field in the North American region. Flexware Innovation will likely integrate with Hitachi Industrial Holdings Americas. The company plans to leverage Flexware’s technology to complement the capabilities of Hitachi Vantara and JR Automation.

Scott Whitlock, Founder and President & CEO of Flexware Innovation, will remain a President & CEO of Flexware in partnership with the leaders of Hitachi Industrial Holdings Americas, the company said in the press release.
